Titchfield Abbey Ruins and Skylark in the Spring

Matthew and Rebecca had their wedding at Skylark Golf Course in Spring 2017 but we took them round the corner to Titchfield Abbey ruins for some romantic portraits.

Bridal Prep was at the Solent Hotel, only five minutes from Skylark, where we photographed all the details including the shoes, the dresses, the flowers etc.

They had a fabulous vintage Rolls Royce to take the girls to Skylark.

Their ceremony was full of meaningful moments, like this candle-lighting...

...and there were also moments of laughter...

...and romance.

All their guests lined up to throw confetti...

...and then it was into their wedding car...

...and off to Titchfield Abbey for romantic portraits.

They were absolutely lovely together...

...and it was wonderful to be able to photograph them amongst the recently opened Apple Blossom. A real sign that Spring was on its way and a beautiful metaphor for the start of their married life together.

It is always a pleasure to photograph a bride and groom at Titchfield Abbey using wide angles and dramatic lighting...

...as well as long focal lengths and big apertures with natural lighting for the more intimate portraits...

...and the two of them were so lovely together.

And the Abbey ruins were just the perfect place to photograph them with their vintage wedding car.

Once we were back at Skylark we used the barn to stage a Bridesmaids and Groomsmen group photograph in the American wedding tradition of having the ladies seated and the men stood behind.

Then it was off to the clubhouse for fun and laughter, helped enormously by Danny Baker, the magician they had engaged.

Matthew and Rebecca had a brilliant day and they were an absolute joy to be with. We wish them the very best for their married life together.

When the British Army Does Confetti

Phil and Amy had their wedding in the late Spring of 2016 at Skylark Golf Club in Whiteley and this is the first time we had come across confetti cannon. 

We saw what looked like five tubes of wrapping paper stood on their ends in the barn. These were in fact the confetti cannon that were to turn the skies around the Skylark pretty colours and cause navigation issues for aircraft approaching Southampton International Airport.

Quite honestly two cannon would have been plenty. Five was spectacularly over the top. Some of Phil's groomsmen were Army boys. I think they thought they were laying down covering fire for their best friend and groom. Just look how high the confetti went. It was way above the height of the barn and it took ages for the skies to clear.

The confetti cannon was certainly spectacular but so were other parts of their day.

Their ceremony was really touching and we all choked up as they read their vows to each other. They were so heartfelt.

The decor in the barn was absolutely stunning.

Afterwards we took them to the ruins of Titchfield Abbey for some romantic portraits...

...and a picnic in the Campervan.

They both looked amazing.

The Boys had kept one confetti cannon back for Phil to fire. Confetti cannon never disappoint! 

After the speeches they were treated to a beautiful sunset...most of the confetti had cleared by then.

 Then it was back inside for their First Dance.

It was a brilliant day that was full of fun...and confetti. We will always remember it as the day the British Army filled the skies over Skylark with confetti.
