Status Quo and Shakespeare at Careys Manor

Stuart and Zoe had the most hilarious wedding at Careys Manor in the New Forest.

The day started out ordinarily enough with Zoe waiting with her dad for him to take her up the aisle.

But even then there were signs of what was to come. Dad was ex-RAF and there was a delightful and well practiced banter running between them already.

Right from the start, the ceremony was full of laughter.

Zoe started it!

But Stuart wasn't going to take it lying down!

Then it was the turn of the Registrar to join in.

Unbeknown to Stuart, the Registrar had conspired with Zoe before her ceremony to find out if there was anything that Stuart likes her to do that she doesn't like doing.

When it came to her making her vows, the Registrar said "Do you Zoe, promise to [promise 1]?"
"I do"
"Do you promise to [promise 2]?"
"I do"
"Do you promise to dry his jeans inside out?"
"I DO NOT!!!" Zoe exclaimed.

It absolutely brought the house down.

Sadly it was raining all day for their wedding but it didn't bother them at all. We took them up to the wooden staircase for some romantic portraits. We hadn't quite realised what we'd taken on.

Just as we were setting up the lighting for this bridal portrait with Zoe...

...Stuart turned it into a Shakespearian Romeo and Juliet moment.

They were brilliant together.

Their wedding cake was a pork pie and cheese cake...

...which they cut at the beginning of the meal which was then cut up by the caterers for their evening buffet.

Stuart couldn't resist making a theatrical moment with the knife.

Dad's speech was very funny and totally in keeping with the humour of the day.

Stuart's speech was also very funny...

...and led to a few moments of comedy-dispute between the newly-weds.

Everybody loved it.

Then it was the turn of the best man.

It was during this speech that we learned of Stuart's absolute hatred of all things Status Quo.

The best man had printed a colour printed booklet for all the guests, full of special moments from Stuart's life.

Zoe found it hilarious!

When it came to their First Dance it was spectacular - including the bride's footwear.

They turned and swirled across the dance floor...

...and had all their guests cheering and clapping.

After their First Dance and in consideration of Stuart's obsessive hate for all things Status Quo - the music, the dancing, the hair, the jean jackets! His guys got Stuart dressed in a wig and jean jacket and made him head-bang with them to Status Quo. He was a great sport.

What a fantastic wedding it was. We can't remember laughing as much as we did that day.

It will certainly be a day we will never forget.

Thank you Stuart and Zoe. You were awesome!

Quirky Disney Wedding

Jess and Mark, avid Disney fans, put together the most amazing quirky wedding at Woodlands Lodge in the New Forest.

After we'd photographed the "Micky and Mini" balloon photograph above, the balloons were moored to buckets and this little boy discovered them and fell in love with Mini.

Woodlands Lodge looked at its very best with its lush green Summer garden and the sun on its white rendering.

Their ceremony was lovely...

...and Mark couldn't take his eyes off his bride.

They both had Disney themed Converse.

There was just enough room in the garden to be able to get a heart-shaped "everybody" photograph for them.

This is one of our favourite photographs. They wanted to make a wish together and blow confetti off their hands.

The weather was perfect with blue sky and puffy white clouds.

The guests had a brilliant time...

...and were suitably shocked at some of the things they heard during the speeches.

After their meal and speeches, Jess and Mark had organised a surprise Crazy Golf course for their guests. It was really popular with those who wanted to play...

...and with those who were happy to sit in the sun, watch the fun and drink wine.

This little boy loved it too.

Then Jess and Mark wanted to climb a tree.

It was their chosen way of getting away from their guests for a while.

This was certainly a first for us. They got up there surprisingly easily.

Getting down was going to be a different matter.

Eventually, with the help of some steps and gallant gentlemen, they got their feet safely back on the ground.

And what was the first thing they did? Jump for joy and high-five obviously!

When photographing a jump, they need to be backlit or it won't look like the feet have left the ground. We had so much fun trying to photograph these guys all jumping together. We lost count of how many times we tried it.

But this attempt was the one that made everybody laugh.

Then it was time for the bridesmaids and best man to look cool.

Then it was time to look...well...Mark did his best to explain. The best man never quite understood...

...but these bridesmaids nailed it.

And this was the resulting quirky group.

Then a quick footwear shot...

...and it was back to the Crazy Golf.

What a pleasant mid-Summer's evening it was...

...even though some found the scoring a little challenging...

...but most enjoyed the golf...and the warm evening sun...and the wine

...and the beer.

It was a fabulous day.

Brilliantly conceived by Jess and Mark who made their wedding day exactly the way they wanted it for themselves and for their guests.

It was a totally unforgettable day.

Thank you to Jess and Mark and all their guests who made us feel so welcome.
